Our mission:

- to provide organic vegetables that are not currently available in this area.
- to provide organic vegetables and possibly some fruit at a less expensive price.
- to provide a variety of vegetables that can feed a family at mealtimes.

Who, why, and how?

The club was started by Rachel Oppitz and Tanja Larson with inspiration from Nicole Guida, because we were tired of not being able to get some favorite vegetables, and were frustrated of paying high prices for some of them. Nicole, mentioned ordering vegetables by the case from J&B and getting a good price for them, so Tanja checked into that and found that there is much more available at cheaper prices if one was to order a case.

We were excited at the potential and put our heads together to see what needs to be in place to make this a successful money-saving venture for everyone involved.
To order a case we decided we would need 12 members (ten people besides ourselves) because alot of the products come in lots of 12 or 24. We would also need a committment from people otherwise we would be stuck with too many vegetables some weeks.

In order for us to have money to pay J&B each week we decided we need a checking account and a monthly payment from members. Based on the prices given by J&B we decided a flat rate of $70 would be sufficient to order 5 different produce items each week.

Tanja will be working with the produce manager to order. The wholesaler needs 7-10 days notice to provide whole cases of items, so Tanja will put in orders on Wednesday for the following Wednesday. She will keep track of expenses for the 4 week period so we get as close as possible to using up our allotment of money without going over.
Financial reports of the clubs income and expenses will be posted on this site to ensure accountability to the Club members.
